PrJSC “Kredmash” at the International Congress "Roads of the Future"

On November 2nd, the International Congress "Roads of the Future", organized by the National Association of Road Workers of Ukraine (NARWU), of which PrJSC “Kredmash” is also a member, was held at the Exhibition Center “Parkovy” in Kyiv.

The Congress discussed aspects of the reconstruction of existing and construction of new roads and bridges in Ukraine, as well as other important issues.

Deputy Chief Designer of PrSC “Kredmash” Serhiy Perepelchenko shared his impressions.


The event was attended by government officials, including the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine - Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on organization of State Authority, Local Self-Government, Regional Development and Urban Development - Olena Shuliak, heads of leading road construction companies: “Avtomagistral-Pivden” LLC, “ONUR” LLC, “RDS” Group of Companies, “ ShB Altcom”, “STL + M” LLC, “Eurodor” LLC, representatives of road services of various regions, audit companies, “Ukrcement” cement producers, director of “DerzhdorNDI” Artem Bezuglyi, who was the moderator of the meeting.

“MARINI” and PrJSC “Kredmash” were represented as manufacturers of asphalt mixing plants.

Among the topics discussed at the Congress were aspects of reconstruction of existing and construction of new roads and bridges in Ukraine by 2024 - projects for the construction of Kyiv bypass highway, repair of M-05 Kyiv - Odessa, M-14 Odessa - Mykolaiv - Kherson, M-24 Mukachevo - Berehovo - Luzhanka (border with Hungary), H-08 Boryspil - Pereyaslav highway, as well as Chernivtsi bypass highway and Krakovets - Lviv - Brody - Rivne concession road.

A special topic was the information on changes in construction standards in Ukraine from 2022. In order to increase road safety, the new norms will prescribe requirements for the minimum thickness of road layers, obligatory lighting of roads of international importance of the first category, installation of pedestrian crossings at different levels, construction of intersections instead of crossroads on roads of higher categories, etc.

Starting next year, the road repair systems will also change. In particular, only two types of road repairs: capital and current will be installed. Medium maintenance will be canceled because it does not strengthen the road base, but leads to defects on newly repaired roads.

The development of cement concrete roads in Ukraine was discussed, as they are much more durable than asphalt-concrete ones. They do not require bitumen during construction, can withstand higher loads, resistant to high temperatures in summer.

Although they have their disadvantages:

  • difficulties with maintenance in case of cracks;
  • the concrete surface is more slippery after rain (which affects traffic safety);
  • much longer "ageing" period of the concrete road before commissioning.

At the congress "Roads of the Future" discussed the issues concern of all road workers in Ukraine. These include long delays in obtaining of various permits and approvals for the construction of new or reconstruction of existing roads, and a shortage of qualified personnel.

It should be noted that the Congress was held at a high level in the form of an active dialogue between road workers, government officials, road institutions and services, suppliers of road equipment.

In my opinion, such meetings are very useful for all participants of the road market, because they provide an opportunity to be always in touch of the latest developments in the road industry not only in Ukraine but also in the world.
